I’ve been attending a LOT of events lately and always want to look my best. This means full hair and makeup is back in effect. This also means hiding gray hair that has popped up during these months of social distancing. This post was sponsored by Gray Away as part of an Influencer Activation and all opinions expressed in my post are my own.
Being stuck indoors for the past 6 months and having limited interaction with people hasn’t been easy. I know many of you have been going through the same. I found myself not wanting to put forth the effort to dress up or to do my hair and makeup because I felt like it would be in vain.
What’s the point of putting on a lippie if it’s just gonna rub off on your mask right lol?
Now that event season has been picking up for me, I really want to emerge looking and feeling great. So, I’ve been making a point of getting fully dressed including hair and makeup, almost every day now. I even throw on perfume for some aromatherapy (because self-care and mental care are important). I feel great!
While most of my events have been virtual with very few in-person socially distanced ones, I always want to look my best. No matter if it’s online or in-person.
If hiding gray hair and quick beauty tips matter to you then check out the rest of this post and tutorial.
Here are some of the events I’ve been attending lately:
- Virtual tours & presentations
- Professional conferences
- Online focus groups
- Zoom meetings
- Weekly influencer masterclass
- Trip to the pumpkin farm
Most of these events have required me to show my face and hair to the outside world, so I’ve been perfecting my quick makeup and hair routines to stay ready.
Hiding Gray Hair With Gray Away
Gray Away has been helping me to hide my grays quickly so that I stay video and photo-ready, at a moment’s notice. So whether you’re working from home, traveling to work every day, or doing quick video calls Gray Away can help you feel confident and prepared.
What is Gray Away? It’s a collection of salon-quality temporary root/gray concealer products for on-the-go lifestyles. The Temporary Root Concealer Spray is the fastest way to help touch up large amounts of gray roots. While the Root Touch-Up Quick Stick precision targets gray hairs at the hairline and can even be used in your eyebrows!
Both of these products are affordable at under $10 and you can find them online and at your local Ulta Beauty.
Just so you know, I went inside to grab mine and was very pleased with the social distancing safety protocols that they had in place inside. It made me feel very secure shopping in-person there and it was a pleasant experience.
Hiding Gray Hair + Quick 5 Minute Ponytail Updo
This tutorial is perfect for busy women with 3B – 4C textured natural hair.
I am the queen of the quick ponytail lol. Today I’m showing you how to create a polished curly ponytail in 5 minutes or less, using inexpensive hairpieces and Gray Away to finish off the look.
You’ll need:
- Finishing Brush
- Detangling Comb or Brush (optional)
- Spray Bottle With Water
- Favorite Curly/Kinky/Coily Styling Products
- Elastic Band
- Bobby Pins
- Edge Control (totally optional)
- Gray Away Root Touch-Up Quick Stick or Temporary Root Concealer Spray
Step 1
Using a spray bottle, dampen hair well and massage the water from roots to ends.
Step 2
Apply your favorite styling products to hair and brush the hair (using finishing brush) into a high ponytail, securing t with a durable elastic band. Make sure to tuck your ends in well.
Step 3
Attach your synthetic hairpiece according to the installation directions. You can secure any drawstrings with bobby pins.
Step 4
Style your ponytail and give it a little extra security with a few bobby pins
Step 5
Use Gray Away product of choice to touch up your roots and/or hairline.
I ended up using the Root Touch-Up Quick Stick to complete my look. This stick saves time! No hair dyeing or salon visits necessary.
It was very precise at targeting the grays around my hairline. I also love that it’s waxy so it glides easily over whatever hair products you use to complete your base ponytail.
If you have a lot of gray to cover along your hairline or roots, use the Temporary Root Concealer Spray.
