We’re getting ready for virtual learning this year in our house! To keep things fun and functional for the kids, I created these super cute and color-filled school supply centerpieces for them. 

You can make these quickly and affordably just in time for your back to school schedules and festivities.

Making Virtual Learning Fun

This will be our first year having everyone in the fam at home, at the same time. So, we’re trying to keep things as fun as possible and make a really big deal out of the start of the school year. My baby is starting Kindergarten and her big brother is going into the 7th grade. 

Every school year, I fall in love with Back-to-School ads. They’re so full of items that are colorful and fun. So, of course, when I started thinking about this tutorial, I had to start out by shopping at my happy place, Target!

I decided to use Target Drive-Up, to grab everything that I needed. It’s so quick and convenient. I just order everything I need on the app, click to let them know I’m on my way and I never have to leave my car. I just pop the trunk and they toss in my goodies. Done and done!

Let me show you how I crafted these cool centerpieces and give you some tips on what to fill them up with.  

School Supply Centerpieces Tutorial

For this tutorial, we’re gonna make back to school organization a thing of “beauty” by using a Target acrylic makeup organizer as our school supply turntable centerpiece. Sounds easy right?

Well, it is!

I sure love a good beauty organizer! In fact, I own several to keep my makeup and toiletry stashes in check. But they can also double as organizers for things like office supplies and school supplies. 

*Shopping Tip – The best acrylic organizers to use for school supplies need to have sections that are deep enough to hold tall items such as pens, pencils, markers, rulers, and glue bottles, etc. You’ll also want to make sure that they have enough compartments to hold everything that your student would need during a typical school day.

Step 1

Whip out your phone or laptop and load up your Target shopping cart with the following:

• Turntable style acrylic organizer – like the shown brand beauty organizer.
• Acrylic organizer with drawers

Step 2

After pickup, remove all items from the packaging and separate them into 2 groups. The first group will fill up your turntable organizer and the 2nd group is for a drawer organizer.

You can set yours up however you’d like. I’m just showing you how I did mine. Have fun with it!

• 1st group (things like pens, pencils, markers, color pencils, glue, pencil sharpener, and scissors)
• 2nd group (supplies that can lie flat such as, Index cards, sticky notes, paper clips, crayons, and erasers)

Step 3

Load up your organizers! If you are all about presentation, you can set your supplies up in a colorful patterned arrangement.

Since my daughter is big into rainbow colors now, that’s the flow that I went with.
