To all my RockStar Moms, you already know that having a great team around you during labor and delivery is every mama’s dream. Yeah having a spouse or partner there with you is great but Nurses are the real superheroes. They’re the ones that do all the dirty work. They’re also the ones that hold your hand through scary medical procedures and encourage you to take care of yourself. That’s why nurses deserve our thanks.

A few months ago, When I got admitted to the hospital during labor with my daughter, my water had broken an hour before and I was a little nervous…not scared but really nervous. I was worried that my baby would arrive before my mom had a chance to get into town for the delivery. You see, being an implant in Nashville also means that we don’t have any family close by. So it was very important to me to have my mom there at the birth of my child. I mean it wasn’t like I could hold out until she got there or put the baby back in if delivery came fast LOL. The rooms in the maternity ward were at capacity so it took a while before I was able to get a room. Once I got assigned a room, I was also assigned a nurse who would take care of me and be there throughout the entire delivery. My nurse was Jessica.
Jessica is a mom of 4 and she was my shining star that day. Not only did she keep me calm, but she stood by my side until my mom got there (which was just in time btw) Jessica shared some of her birth stories of her own children with me as she cared for me. She held my hand through many of my contractions. I squeezed hard and she didn’t even care. She encouraged me every step of the way and helped me to focus through the contractions while being prepped and given my epidural, not once but twice (it didn’t take the first time). She really empowered me in that delivery room and made me feel like I was a pro at giving birth. I still remember her telling me “You need to teach some of these other moms how to get through those contractions. You’re doing great!” She was awesome.
So as my way of saying Thank You to Jessica, for standing in for my mom until she got there. For making me feel like I can do this. For relating to me not just as a nurse but as a mom too, I’ve nominated her for an award. She absolutely deserves this and more, because I have no doubt that she shines like this for many moms that have had her as a nurse on their special day. It’s her love for her job and professionalism that made me want to take time out of my day to do something nice for her.

I would tell her thank you for always taking care of me, for comforting me and listening to me! It has helped me through some trials in my life.
I would say thank you for taking the time to listen to all my concerns and questions and taking care of me.
When our first baby was born we had the absolute sweetest nurse in the delivery room! I would thank her for calming this first momma’s nerves, being so encouraging and helpful!
Thank you for the great care you gave my husband when he was in intensive care.
I would tell my nurse thank you for checking on me so often and making sure I didn’t need anything. I have been other hospitals that just leave you by yourself for hours.

I had surgery a few years ago and I loved my nurses. In fact I sent them a Thank you card. They were so friendly, caring, and accommodating.

I’d let them know how great they made me feel during my stay after giving birth. Such a huge experience in my life and I had no clue what I was doing. SO thankful.
I would tell my nurse(s) thank you for your consideration in my time of distress and need.
I would say “Thank you for being there throughout my long delivery. I was nervous and scared about giving birth, but you were comforting and reassuring. It was great how you could make me laugh even when I was in pain. I’ll be forever grateful.”

I actually did write her a letter thanking her for her compassion and for never leaving my side during my trial of labor after a cesarean that ended in another cesarean.
I would tell her ‘you made cancer less scary, you sat and took your time, you cared andd thaank you’ Our nurse was woonderful.
I would tell her that the extra time she took with me to let me sleep a bit and helping me with nursing my son made me feel halfway sane in a time that was very hectic for me.
To the nurse who literally saved my mom’s life, thank you. If not for her I would not be wanting to celebrate the holidays this year!

I would thank them for taking such good care when my father need a lot of care after a long illness. They did everything them could and then some to make sure he was comfortable.

My favorite nurse was my nieces nurse! She was born too early and weighed only 1 pound 9 ounces. Her Nurse Lindsay was so wonderful with the whole family. She had so much compassion. She was so good to pick you up on the harder days, or even for a hug when you needed it the most. Today my niece is a healthy 7 year old and we are still very close with her nurse! I would love to say a huge thank you for taking the best care of our families little princess and our whole family during that so very emotional time!
My nomination says: My bff is honestly one of the most caring and talented nurses I know. She genuinely cares and puts her whole self into her work to ensure that her patients receive the quality of care and attention that they deserve. Additionally, my favorite nurse and BFF just had her first baby last week – a beautful baby boy. I would love to see her receive recognition for all of her hard work and selfless spirit!

The nurse I would like to thank is the one who helped recently deliver my nephew during a very traumatic and difficult birth.

My favorite nurse that most stands out is Nurse Janet. When I had my first baby, everything was totally new to me and my milk wasn’t coming in. She told me to start pumping (as well as having the baby suck on my breast like I was doing). After trying a couple of pumping sessions, my milk finally came in and I was so relieved. I wish I would have started pumping to help get the milk going right away, but am so thankful to her for her advice! Julie smartsavvymama@gmail.com

I had a wonderful nurse named Lisa when I had my son. She was so patient, answered all my questions, and made me comfortable. She even stayed after her shift was over to help me deliver my son.
Autumn was my L&D nurse and she was amazing!

I’d like to thank the nurse who helped me during my last c-section 8 weeks ago. She was concerned about me not sleeping and helped me use the Murphy bed because the bed I was on was very uncomfortable.
