I want to thank Olay for sponsoring today’s post. I received compensation and free products to facilitate my challenge. All opinions are 100% mine. #Olay28Day #ad Taking great care of my skin has been my #1 beauty goal for this year. It’s also my goal to share helpful information and products, that cater to the specific skin care needs of women of color. When I read about Olay’s goal, which is to prove to women of color how 4 of their Olay Luminous products can tackle the unique needs of our skin, I knew this was the campaign for me.
I know how hard it is to find quality skincare products. I also understand the frustrations of having to go through trial and error just to find the right formulas to tackle hyperpigmentation and uneven skin tone. For many years, I struggled with acne, scarring and too many products that clogged my pores and either stripped my skin of essential oils or left my skin dry as a desert. Sometimes it made me want to give up. So trust me when I say, I’ve been through it. I feel you and I’m here to help.
I Want A Fresh Face
For the past 28 days, I have been using 4 specific products from the Olay Luminous line. I stopped using all other products on my skin. No scrubs, no other moisturizers, cleansers or facial masks for the full 28 days. I stuck to a strict skin care regimen, using nothing but the products I’m going to share with you in this post.
2 skin issues that I set out to tackle during this challenge was #1 getting rid of hyperpigmentation left from scarring and #2 evening my skin tone. Overall, my skin was fine. But I found myself wearing makeup every day, to make it look more even. I love makeup. But I want makeup to be a fun choice and not a necessity to feel good about my skin. I also get an occasional pimple when it gets close to my time of the month. They usually disappear in a few days. But, because I’m acne prone, I don’t really have much choice. I have to maintain a consistent skin care regimen.
Here is what I experienced while following the 4 step regimen, using Olay Luminous.
Olay Luminous 4 Step Skin Care Regimen For Women Of Color
Step 1 – Cleanse With Olay Luminous Micellar Water retails for $9.49
The first step in the 4 part regimen is cleansing your face with Olay Luminous Micellar Water. No water is needed and you can remove your makeup and clean your face in one step. Now, I’ve used other micellar water products before this. But this one, by far, is the most gentle on my skin and it truly cleanses as it claims.
I haven’t had a chance to test this on waterproof mascara yet, but I have used it to remove lip stains and eyebrow gels with ease.
I really like the dispenser! Instead of having to pour product onto a pad, you just place your facial pad on top and pump it a few times.
Budget Beauty Tips: I’m all about saving on beauty. One way I’ve been saving with this new regimen is by using the large generic facial cleansing pads vs. using smaller round beauty pads. They cover much more surface area and I end up using way less product to get the same results. As you pump, move your pad around so you hit a different area of the pad each time you pump. Don’t forget you can use both sides when cleansing your face too!
In my opinion, generic facial cleansing pads work just as well as the name brand ones. So, I can easily grab mine when I’m out grocery shopping and end up spending less.
Step 2 – Olay Luminous Miracle Boost Concentrate retails for $24.99 – $33.99
What this product does is prep your skin for moisturizing. One of my favorite beauty tips is to always moisturize your skin while damp. Doing so leads to maximum hydration. Well, the Olay Luminous Miracle Boost Concentrate helps you to do just that! Plus, it renews skin cells, which is what brings out the “glow” or radiance of your skin.
This is my favorite product of the bunch, because hydration is the key to younger, healthier looking skin and renewing skin cells leads to a more even skin tone.
Step 3 (Daytime Routine) – Olay Luminous Light Hydrating Lotion retails for $26.99
This is the 3rd step in your daily routine. The Olay Luminous Light Hydrating Lotion helps to plump up your skin, fade dark spots, even out skin tone and illuminate your skin.
Step 4 (Night Routine) – Olay Regenerist Luminous Overnight Mask retails for $25.99
The Olay Regenerist Luminous Overnight Mask is the last step in my skincare routine. In the beginning, I kept forgetting to use my moisturizer (step 3) before the mask at night. So after awhile, I just kept that as my regular night-time routine. So, I basically do a 3 step process at night, just like during the day. It’s what works for me.
I really like the consistency of the mask. The gel is cool and has a nice smell to it. It’s really light too, so I don’t feel like I have product sitting on my face at night.
Beauty Tip: Don’t forget to cover your décolleté! That’s the delicate skin of your neck including your upper chest, all the way down to where your cleavage begins. It all needs care.

How Does My Skin Look After 28 Days?
First let me tell you how it feels. It has been years since my skin has felt so smooth. It doesn’t just look smooth. It feels smooth and soft.
It’s plump and bright. I feel good when I wake up in the morning and look at my face in the mirror.
I also fell in love with the routine of using these products. I feel much more confident being able to see the dirt and dead skin being removed during the cleansing step. I know when my makeup is fully removed because I can see it and prove it by using another facial pad. I know my skin is clean.
I have to admit, I was a little skeptical about seeing a change in my hyperpigmentation because I’ve tried a LOT of over the counter products. At best, I’ve seen super slow results that seemed like it took forever. With the Olay Luminous products, I can actually see the results of having a more even skin tone. My skin on my face and neck no longer look like 2 different shades of brown. The skin under my chin isn’t darker than my jaw line any more. It’s also harder to find all the little dark spots that I used to see clearly on my cheeks.
I’ve gone weeks without wearing makeup every day. I have worn it on a couple of date nights and my birthday, but other than that, I’ve rocked my fresh face proudly. I plan on continuing with this regimen.
I’m sure I’ll still use my scrubs or peels from time to time, but I think this is a pretty simple regimen that I can consistently follow. After 28 days, I only have a few pumps left of the micellar water. I’m halfway through the Miracle Boost Concentrate. Everything else should last another month or 2 before I have to purchase some more. So budget wise, I think this would be a good economical choice for me.
I’m seriously loving my skin right now.
Can you see the difference in my skin? If you could eliminate 1 skin care issue, what would it be?
