What up Nail Lovers! I know I’ve been missing in action when it comes to my Mani posts, but it was with good reason. I had a teeny tiny relapse with my nail-biting and I’ve been nursing my babies back to optimal health. It wasn’t all bad though. While I was recovering, I did find the perfect nail system to help me deal with any future setbacks. But first let me give you the story.
A few months ago, my mom and I went to The Southern Women’s Show in Birmingham, AL. While there we ran into a man selling these little nail systems for like $35. Basically it was a 4 way buffer system with this Awesome crystal nail file. He filed and buffed our nails to a glorious shine but there was no way either of us was gonna pay $35 for a friggin’ nail file π
Anyway, I searched and searched to find a nail file like his and only came up with a sad reproduction from Sally’s Beauty Supply. Then…one night my mom was watching HSN (as usual) and she spotted the infamous nail file. She ended up ordering 2 sets of a nail system from a company called Ruby Crystal. It had the same exact file that I was looking for but even better! Their set comes with a cuticle oil pen, calcium roll on nail treatment, a 3 file system, whitening pencil, Ruby Crystal File and Instructions all in a cute little patent leather wallet. Not only is the set cute, but it also worked miracles for my poor little damaged nails and cuticles.
Here’s the actual set with Instructions below. If you’re interested in checking it out for yourself, here’s the Ruby Crystal Website

Now on to the Mani!
This Moody Manicure features:
- 1 coat of Maybelline’s Clearly Spotted #75 $2.99 at Target layered over
- Sinful Colors’ Aspen $1 at Dollar Tree
Aspen is a muted teal, highly pigmented with an almost candy coated finish. The formula is thick enough so that 2 coats is all you’ll ever need. The top layer is Clearly Spotted which is a clear base with black & white polka dots (of various sizes) suspended in it. One coat of this is enough to add a “Pop” of fab to your favorite polish. It would go great over pastels, candy colors, a clear base or even neutral tones. In fact, I was going to pair it with a gray base, but opted for a bolder color this time.
