Last weekend I ventured out to attend Goodwill of Middle Tennessee’s Style With A Purpose fashion event. It’s a shopping style meetup that’s been happening pretty regularly in the Nashville area and it seems to be getting more exciting with each event.
Goodwill is great for the Nashville community. Even if you don’t shop the stores, it’s a good organization to get involved with. They provide valuable educational and employment opportunities for those in need. They also provide excellent meeting spaces for community events and don’t charge a thing. It’s totally FREE. That is a huge bonus for community organizations and creatives that need quality event space for their meetups and classes.
Style With A Purpose – Bellevue
Style With A Purpose was held at the Bellevue Goodwill located off of highway 70 in Nashville.
When I arrived, people were lined up with carts full of stuff, ready to try them on in the dressing room. There was a registration table where you could check in and be entered to win prizes and grab a branded reusable shopping bag. They also had a photo area on one side of the store and on the other side, a table set up with light bites and drinks. So everywhere you turned there was something interesting for attendees.
During the Goodwill shopping event
Style influencers presented their clothing racks with curated pieces pulled right from within the store. There were displays set up with shoes and trendy accessories where I managed to grab a nice bracelet from. In the center aisle, each influencer was featured on a nice plaque above their rack. Not only were their beautiful faces captured but each shared a few of their favorite style tips.
As we shopped, many of the bloggers offered advice on how to put together outfits or how to style individual pieces found at Goodwill. They were very helpful and knowledgable about finding pieces that worked well together. Whether by color scheme, cut or style. Some even took pics with the customers, which was pretty cool.
I’m an expert thrift shopper
I know I love to thrift shop a lot but even the pro’s need help sometimes. When I’m stuck in a style rut, I tend to need a little push to try something outside of the box. So having people sharing about their personal style and offering advice to shoppers was a nice touch. I got something out of it and I could tell that customers were getting the help that they needed, while having a good time.
It was such a great turnout. There were a lot of smiles, a lot of laughter and sales. I don’t think I’ve ever seen the parking lot at this location so full!
I really enjoyed myself. It was nice to get out without my kids to shop, chat and eat. I got a chance to meet some new peeps and spent some time catching up with those I was familiar with. Oh! Plus, I found some cute finds at great prices. Check these out!
Style With A Purpose was a hit!
So hats off to Goodwill! One thing I really liked about this event was that their marketing team followed up with a timely survey for guests. Now, I attend a lot of brand events and I don’t recall ever being sent a survey asking me what I thought about the event or how it could be made better in the future. That showed me how much Goodwill is vested in its community and cares about the opinions of those that shop their stores. Good look Goodwill. Good look.
I also love how proceeds from their stores go toward helping those in need.
