Our June mother-daughter-daughter trip to Orlando was so much fun! I hit the road with my mom and daughter on a 10-hour drive for a 4 day/3 Night stay at the Wyndham Grand Orlando Resort. We had an awesome time chilling at the resort, soaking up sunshine and exploring the city for some summer fun.
Summer Fun On The Road
I can’t even remember when was the last time I had been on a road trip alone with my mom. It’s so rare that we get to do things like this due to our schedules and distance, but I’m so glad it worked out this time. We left early in the morning on a Thursday, stopping a few times to take rests, change the baby, stretch our legs or gas up.
Of course, no road trip is possible without first stopping at Sonic Drive-In to get a Rt. 44 cranberry sweet tea. That’s my drank!
Family Fun Time
Because I was there for my conference and travel assignment, there wasn’t much time to check out Disney or big area attractions, but we did manage to have some family fun exploring the hotel grounds and pools. We also got in some rest and relaxation, something I don’t really get to experience too often. Plus, my mom really deserved a break from the demands of her job.
I almost didn’t want to post this one because my waistline has disappeared LOL! This foodie has REALLY been enjoying some great grub this summer. But I was still brave enough to rock my 2 piece Athleta swimsuit, so kudos to me.
The diva of our trip kept us busy. From dialing Disney on our room phone, trying to hide at bedtime, tantrums and not wanting to get out of the pool. She was a handful! But she also was a lot of fun.
Our view from the balcony of the Wyndham Grand Orlando overlooks Hilton/Waldorf Astoria Bonnet Creek and the Golf Course.Golf course behind the Hilton Bonnet Creek.
Sleeping in was just what I needed to recharge my batteries and spark some new creative ideas. Future mama-cations are going on the agenda for me. Even if it’s just a one night staycation, I just need to rejuvenate from time to time.
We Spent A Few Days In Alabama
Instead of heading straight home, we spent a few days with The Parents. My dad was itching for us to stay a few days and I really could use the change of scenery. I sleep really good when I visit my mom and dad for some reason. Maybe it’s the huge bed all to myself or not having to cook. I don’t know.
It was the 3rd anniversary of my paternal grandmother’s death, so we took a short drive out to the country, to our family’s cemetery in BallPlay, to clean up the gravesite a bit and plant some new flowers. We decked out my grandma’s grave in purple since that was her favorite color.
Then we ventured over to check out the new nature walkway.

Of course, food is always involved whenever I travel. After checking out the Riverwalk, we headed over to a local meat & three called Pruetts for some dinner. If you’ve ever wanted to know any of their recipes, just head to the bathroom while you’re there. See below.
I love eating at meat and three’s!! #yum

It’s a nice place to stop if you’re looking for something more than fast food and want more homestyle options. Overall, I think their food is ok. Their sweet potato souffle was delicious. Greens were great and the fried zucchini was BOMB! I didn’t care for the BBQ pork too much because I could taste liquid smoke and the sauce wasn’t to my liking.
But the options are plentiful and service is really good. They’re a very affordable option for lunch or dinner.

Then it was back home the next day. I could tell my dad didn’t want us to leave. He’ll try to come up with any excuse to get us to stay and I love him for that. I miss them a lot when I leave. But I did convince them to come to the Nashville a week later so we could catch the 4th of July fireworks together.
Tell me about some of your favorite trips this summer!
