It took me a while to realize that positive lifestyle changes don’t have to be anything drastic or difficult. They can be as simple as little baby steps that you take to start a new routine.
My goals this year include taking better care of and improving my body, mind and spirit.
I know myself well enough to know that any major changes like a new diet or exercise routine aren’t gonna work for me if they’re not practical pieces of my everyday lifestyle. So if it’s something that wouldn’t organically fit in with my week, it’s highly probable that I’m not going to follow through on it.
That’s why I decided to keep it simple and incorporate a few things that make sense to my life and goals. Here are 5 ways that I am improving my well-being.
Cutting Back On Unhealthy Snacks & Drinks
I’m a foodie, so this has been a harder one than I thought it would be. I thought that I was doing great. Not eating a lot of junk foods or drinking soda. But I never realized the amount of sugars & unhealthy fats I was taking in through things that seemed to be healthy, like my overdosing on fruit juice.
Or, my late night cereal binges.
I’m also a huge bread & cheese fanatic.
They say too much of a good thing can be bad right? So, the key to living my best life has been incorporating probiotics for better digestive health and consuming my snacks & drinks in moderation.

In case you aren’t familiar with what probiotics are. Basically, probiotics supplement the good bacteria that help support your body’s digestive system. What these clinically studied bacteria naturally help* to do is:
- Fortify your digestive system.
- Promote and support a healthy digestive system.
- Maintain digestive balance.
Align Whole Food Blend is the #1 Doctor Recommended brand which includes 3 types of probiotics that naturally support a healthy digestive system. Each capsule is vegan, non-gmo, dairy-free, and gluten-free. They also have no synthetic fillers and no artificial flavors or ingredients.
Drinking More Water
Drinking enough water daily has been an ongoing struggle for me. I was consuming way too much fruit juice everyday. Over time this made me lose my craving for regular water. I didn’t like the taste at all. I could tell by my moods, hair, skin and nails that I wasn’t drinking enough.
So, I started using water bottles as a way to help measure my daily water intake. I usually fill up my 16 oz. bottle in the morning, afternoon, evening and again at bedtime. That way I’m taking in 64 oz per day. This sure beats the 1 – 2 glasses of water I was drinking in the past.
I actually should be drinking a bit more everyday, but so far I’ve been doing well with my new water routine. I’ll increase my intake even more this summer.
To help me get over the bland taste I like to drink fruit infused water or add some flavored water enhancers when filling up my bottle. Super simple!
I work from home full-time and take care of my preschooler all week, so I don’t get to spend as much quality time enjoying the outdoors as I’d like to. But when the weekend comes and also because our weather has been cooperating, I’ve been taking advantage of the beautiful Spring temps by enjoying the parks and walking paths in the city.
One thing I really love about Nashville are the vast amount of hiking trails, parks and greenways the area has. We also have really great nature parks, waterways and waterfalls nearby.
Increasing Physical Activity
I’ve been increasing my physical activity little by little. I find that simple things like going for more walks and getting out to play with the kids really improves my mood and helps me get in some great cardio. It has also been helping me to get a better nights sleep.
I still have some work to do to get my body in shape. I really want to get rid of my spare tire and tone up.
But I’m out here doing it! I’m on my way to a better me and feeling great in the meantime.
Taking Charge Of My Healthcare
At the beginning of this year I made a point to schedule out my health screenings & annual physical. I’m making my overall health a priority through regular checkups and doing more to relieve stress.
I see lots more weekend getaways in my future.
Well, I hope by showing you these 5 simple ways that I’m living my best life have inspired you to add some new helpful things to your daily routines too.
Until my next post, get outdoors and enjoy the Spring weather!
