I’m a work at home mom who is constantly on the go.  From the moment I get up in the morning, it’s a rush to do everything.  I’m making sure the kids are washed and dressed. Then I get ready. Next, I make sure my son has everything he needs for school and we are out the door to get him to his bus stop on time.

My Morning Tea Routine

Every morning I fill up my electric tea kettle with water and hit the button while I do a quick clean of my kitchen. It’s the first thing I do when I get back in the house after getting my son on the bus.  I find that doing this consistently actually cuts down on the amount of housework that I have to do each day. My motto is work smarter not harder.

Then I make my daughter’s breakfast. Once she’s squared away for a bit, I start my workday.  But never before I have my morning tea and a moment to reflect, read my bible or pray. My spiritual life is a big part of my everyday success. Even if it’s just a moment to say thanks for being alive and well. Starting my day with a grateful heart really changes the dynamics of my whole day.

I also have to make sure that my work days don’t get in the way of taking care of myself, especially as the cold and flu season approaches.  So this year, I’m preparing early. I already have my kitchen stocked with essentials and some new stuff that I’m gonna tell you about a little later in the post.

For all you tea drinkers like me, I put a list together of some things that you can do around the home to get ahead while you wait for your tea to steep.  These are simple tasks that should take less than 5 minutes to do. Nothing fancy, just practical tips to set off your morning before you head out to work or start your mornings at home.

10 things you can do while you wait for your tea to brew

  • Wash a few random items left in the sink.
  • Read, pray or meditate for a few minutes to set the tone for your day
  • Get in some quick morning stretches
  • Load the dishwasher
  • Sweep the kitchen floor
  • Clean your counters
  • Vacuum a room
  • Toss in a load of laundry
  • Pop some toast or an English muffin into the toaster
  • If you work from home, turn on your computer and get your work area ready

Here are some of the essentials I stocked my kitchen with already. You can find all of these items at Kroger. Just an FYI, the Theraflu pods are located in the OTC Pharmacy area in-store.

I grabbed some Theraflu Power Pods Nighttime Severe Cold to treat any symptoms of cold and flu that might pop up. These can go right into your single serve pod machine so preparation can be quick. Theraflu Power Pods Nighttime Severe Cold will give you temporary relief of symptoms like minor aches and pains, headache, nasal congestion, minor sore throat pain, and cough. These are super convenient, you just press and sip.

You can save $2.00 on any ONE (1) Theraflu Power Pods through 12/8, via this digital offer.

Then, I grabbed some Kleenex®  Ultra Soft Tissues and Kleenex Germ Removal Wet Wipes. The tissue is super soft and is gentle on your skin. The wipes can wipe away 99% of germs from the skin with no harsh chemicals. These are the perfect thing to toss in your purse. You can use them on your hands, face, and body.

Like I said I’m a big tea drinker, so Lipton is a staple in my house. This new Lipton* Daily Support is made with botanicals and essential oils to help make wellbeing a big part of your everyday routine. An excellent source of Vitamin C, this herbal infusion helps support your body’s natural defenses.* Carefully selected botanicals are blended with green tea and natural essential oils that make every cup delicious.  This is exactly what I need right now.
