One of the things I really missed when I moved to Nashville was the outdoor mall experience I was used to getting in Raleigh, NC. I fell in love with the open spaces, unique shops, and grassy courtyards there.
Ever since I heard the news of a new shopping area being constructed in Bellevue, I’ve been anticipating the opening. I couldn’t wait because I was sure it would give me the same NC experience I was longing for.
Now that it’s here, I love the shopping and whole vibe of the outdoor mall. I am a little disappointed that there isn’t much green space. That’s one of the features that drew people to the outdoor malls in Raleigh. But when I looked beyond all of that and the chain retailers, I discovered that One Bellevue Place still has some pretty chill spots that are worth checking out. Here are 3 of my favorite places & features.
3 Chill Worthy Places To Check Out In One Bellevue Place
1. PDK Southern Kitchen & Pantry
I had a chance to check out PDK during their soft opening on 6/24. I had been dying to try their Shrimp n Grits, but since I was out with my kids and knew I wouldn’t get a chance to really take my time and savor a meal, without one of them having to pee, I opted for something a little safer. So I went for the Chicken and Waffles (split with my son), a few snacks and a banana pudding shot for my daughter. Everything was delicious!
The decor of the restaurant is contemporary country, with a variety of seating options, both inside and out to suit groups, couples or those seeking a cool place to lounge and eat. If you’re looking for a place to sit for a while, the booths have outlets so you can plug-in your devices.
They offer a nice mix of grab and go options, full breakfast, lunch and dinner menus and convenient snacks, perfect for the movies (which is right across the street). They even offer fresh seasonal produce.
What I like the most about this spot is that every Sunday they donate the profits of the day to a weekly charity. For the month of September, they’re partnering up with the Nashville YWCA.
2. AMC Movie Theater
When it comes to movie theaters, AMC is killing the game. Recently, they moved to make $5 Tuesdays a permanent thing. They also have the AMC Stubs A-List option, which makes Movie Pass look like a Blockbuster card in this age of Netflix. Seriously, AMC theaters have some of the most comfortable seating and good food options.
My wish would have been for the new dine-in theater to be added to the area, but I’m satisfied with the upgrade. I love getting out and going to the movies. More importantly, I love chilling in a comfy recliner while I’m watching. That’s why I’m so glad One Bellevue Place included this new theater.
3. The Well Coffeehouse Fountain
Another one of my favorite spots in One Bellevue Place is sitting near the lighted fountain right outside of The Well Coffeehouse. There’s always plenty of seating and it’s such a cool feature, especially at night when you can really see the lights & water changing colors.
Kids love it and on these hot nights, it’s the perfect place to cool down.
I’m looking forward to the next phase of business openings, the new hotel and ice cream shop. If you’re ever in the Bellevue area of the city be sure to check out the shops. There’s always plenty of parking in the Sprouts parking lot, spaces behind Bar Louie and in front of the long strip of shops opposite Burlington & Home Goods.
