It’s pretty common for us to rent cars when we go on road trips now. Not only does it save on the wear and tear of our car, but it’s kind of nice to get familiar with a wide variety of cars over an extended period of time. So this Thanksgiving, the kids and I loaded up and headed out in style, to visit family in a sweet 2017 Kia Forte LX.
*This vehicle was NOT sponsored and I received no compensation for this review. I paid for a weekly rental from Budget Rental for use.
My Favorite 2017 Kia Forte LX Features
Rear View Camera
One of the features that I really liked in the new 2017 Kia Forte , is the rear view camera. This really helped when backing out of my parents driveway. Normally, If you don’t back up just right you could end up in a pile of stones on one side or fall off the edge of the driveway on the other. It’s like a gauntlet lol. So having the rear view camera was very handy for those instances and for all of my little excursions to Walmart and other places, getting in some black friday shopping. This made backing out of blind spots a breeze.
I always love being able to listen to my Spotify playlist on my phone and making/receiving hands free calls while on the road. Setting up a Bluetooth connection was super simple. Just a quick tap on the media button, on the dash and tap to connect through my phone and we were in there like swim wear! I did notice a few little skips here and there on my favorite songs, but that’s been pretty common in most of the cars I’ve rented. That’s not exclusive to Kia.
Ample Cup holders
I’m adding this feature as a favorite because my son talked about his cup holder far too often. Seriously, I don’t think he talked about anything else but leg room and the cup holders 🙂 I have to admit, they were pretty deep. Deep enough to hold my Rt. 44 drinks from Sonic, baby bottles and sippy cups. There are 2 large cup holders in the console, one medium cup holder/bottle holder in each door and 2 large ones in the pull down console in the middle of the back seat.
This car is deceiving. It may not seem like it from the outside but the amount of space available in the trunk was surprisingly spacious. I was able to fit my daughter’s play yard, a 5 inches thick mattress, stroller, my overnight bag, my son’s suitcase and 2 full tote bags. Plus, I still had room to throw in more but opted not to.
This car ran really well on gas. One full tank lasted us 5 days, including the 3 hour trek from Nashville to Gadsden, AL. I only filled up on my way home and topped it off before I returned it back to Budget Rental.
My overall impression of this 2017 Kia Forte is, this is a nice ride! The overall design and presentation of the base model is stylish. I really enjoyed how smooth the ride was. The seats, although not premium, were comfortable and gave me all the support I needed. It had most of the bells and whistles that I like and a great sound system. There’s also a lot of storage space and it has fabrics that are easy to clean should there be any spills.
I love the amount of room my kids had in the back seat as well as cup holders and pockets that made my life easier as a road mom.
I would have to recommend this car for young families, those who like style without breaking the bank and weekend warriors. It’s a very gas reliable car that handles well in heavy traffic and in slick road (rain) conditions.
I can’t wait for my next road trip, who knows what I’ll be driving next!
