I’m kicking October off with a boom! This will be my first post of a new segment on the blog called, Real People Meals.  I want to share some quick and easy everyday meal ideas for busy people who just don’t have time for a 20 step gourmet Pinterest meal LOL.  We’re gonna set it off right with a simple recipe that will turn plain ‘ole chicken strips into a meal the whole family will enjoy.

This is the perfect meal for a busy weekday and you only need to buy 3 ingredients to make it.  As with every Real People Meals post, I’ll be sure to add the cost of the meal for all of us who are trying to save some coins. So today, we’re gonna make some General Tso’s Chicken that serves 4, for under $16!

Everything in this recipe came from a grocery trip to my local Target. So if you have a Target store in your area, you’ll be able to pick up these items in the meats section (part of the mix & match meals) and the frozen meals aisle.  Oh and if 4 servings is too much for your household, just freeze the rest for later!

Serves: 4-5

Total Cook Time: 25 Minutes

  • Archer Farms – General Tso’s Stir Fry Sauce $3.59
  • A bag of Tyson Crispy Chicken Strips $7.99  (If you need a gluten-free option, Target also carries the gluten-free chicken strips.)
  • Archer Farms Stir Fry Medley with Pea Pods (Pre-cut vegetables) $3.99
  • 2 Tablespoons Canola Oil or you can use your fav cooking spray
