TweetPin2Share2Share12 Shares I’m stepping up my overall health game. Of course I want to look good, but my main reasons are to be healthy from the inside out. I believe an overall overhaul is the best type of lifestyle change for me, especially since it affects so many aspects of my life. My outward appearance, my strength & stamina, my energy level & my mental health. For the past 2 weeks I’ve been slowly changing some things in my daily diet, walking more, exercising more and taking some steps to improve my spiritual health. I’m really trying to form a habit of doing strength training work outs during my week and because I’m already happy with my weight, and have no desire to lose what I already have. I simply want to gain more lean muscle and burn fat. So in order to do that I have to increase my daily protein intake. I started out drinking Ensure – High Protein each morning in addition to my regular breakfast, or as a meal replacement. Because I sometimes have an up/down type of appetite, I wanted to be sure I’m not missing any meals or losing nutrients. This week I began making and drinking healthy protein smoothies just to switch it up a bit and experiment with various fruits, vegetables and proteins. I’m sharing a few of my recipes this week on the blog. This first one below includes using What Germ as my protein. I really like the taste of Wheat Germ. It gives my smoothies an oatmeal kind of taste or cream of wheat flavor without the added texture. It seems to especially blend well with Bananas & Milk based recipes. I think I’m gonna have to make this one my go-to protein shake. While the color isn’t very pretty, I really love the taste and texture of this smoothie. I think it’s the combo of the Almond Milk and the Wheat Germ that really makes this one. Maybe it’s my love of eating fruit with nuts that wins me over. But whatever it is, it’s GOOD! I’ve never tried it before, but I’ll be adding it to my grocery list in the AM. I’ll be sure to share my thoughts with you, too. Good looking out, hun! Reply Candice S. June 12, 2014 You’re welcome!
