President’s Day.  My son was off from school (thank goodness I remembered the night before) and I really didn’t have anything to do.  Money has been really tight but I’ve been dying to get out clothes shopping since I haven’t been in a while.  I remembered that last week at JCPenney I spotted a nice clutch bag on sale for $10…Yes I was that broke… and hid it on the shelf behind a mound of purses so I could come back to get it later (a trick I learned at a very young age from my mom 🙂 Thanks Mom!).  There were only 3 left.

I had been thinking about that clutch and a few other things I spotted and was trying to devise a plan to score my finds.  A lightbulb went off on Sunday night. I totally forgot I had a huge gym bag of change in the trunk of my car my mom gave me over 1 and a half years ago.  It’s been sitting in there ever since because I’ve been too lazy to sort it & cash it in.

So when presidents day rolled around and I started seeing all of the wonderful TV ads, I couldn’t take it anymore. I went out and lugged that bag out of my trunk and up 2 flights of stairs to my apartment, put on my rubber gloves, sorted out the Silver, Washed it with CLR (I know…I know… my monkish OCD kicked in but trust me some of the money was beyond filthy & sticking together from being in the trunk for so long).  Then I got on my phone to find the nearest CoinStar location.  You’ve heard of CoinStar right?  It’s these green machines where you can dump your change in, it counts it for you, gives you a receipt with your total and you simply cash it in at whatever location you are at such as a bank, grocery store or drug store etc.  Of course they charge you a fee for taking the cash vs. a gift certificate to major stores, but I was OK with that.

So anyway, I dumped my change in and came out with $130 minus coinstar’s fees of course.   Not bad!  I headed straight for JCPenney, snagged my clutch and a few other things on sale or clearance.

Because I had my son in tow, I stopped at Chick-Fila stuffed him with a sundae to keep him satisfied, stuffed myself with a deluxe combo (I was starving), made a quick stop at the toy store and then proceeded to TarJay…Target is my bargain Oasis.

Here’s what I made out with on my little budget shopping spree!

Clutch. Sale. Haul. JCPenney. Presidents Day Sale. Naturally Stellar

Gorgeous Clutch only $10 at JCPenney.

There’s 1 more item that I purchased that isn’t pictured.  I also got a Cream colored 3/4 sleeve, Worthington Sweater from JCPenney. It’s really pretty with shiny gold threading all over it.   For some reason my camera wasn’t capturing the sparkle of the gold, so I ended up erasing the photos.

But all together I scored 2 Sweaters, 2 tops, 1 Dress, 1 Skirt, 1 Pair of Leggings, 2 Clutches, Some Dish Liquid, Conditioner, a cuticle cutter and some Chick-Fila….all for a bag of spare change.

Did you score anything great this week?

How did I miss this post. I’ve hit up JCP’s clearance racks and also bought that color block dress from Tar’jay but had to take it back – didn’t look right on me!

I know right? They had a lot of nice ones. So many people sleep on JCPenney, including myself up until a few weeks ago 🙂 BTW, I love your blog, I checked it out this morning. You and me have a LOT in common, I love cheap finds, but not CHEAP looking.

Of course. Of course. I heard through the grapevine that Target is having a huge sale this week, up to 90% off some items. I haven’t been since Monday, so I can’t confirm but it’s worth checking out. Thanks for dropping by!
