TweetShare82Pin1K+1Share1K Shares There are so many conversations to be had about the Black Panther movie, some seriously deep, some entertaining and of course funny. But the very first thing that captivated me about this movie was the casting. The depiction of black skin, the lighting, the hair and the makeup. It was a BEAUTY-FULL production. I think what I loved the most about the beauty in this film, was the care in placing the characters in a contrast of colors, to show off the depth and glow of dark skin. It was like a series of gorgeously laid out editorial captures that just kept getting better and better. I was drawn to the colors on the screen and with each scene, looking forward to seeing even more eye-catching beauty. Let’s talk about just how captivating the beauty was in this film. The Makeup In Black Panther Was Flawless Makeup You couldn’t help but notice the gorgeous makeup in this movie. I mean the women cast are already beautiful, but the way the makeup was done in this film is really breathtaking. The colors were true to skin and natural looking. Lips in the film, were popping with a variety of deep berries and vibrant reds. All of the eyebrows I saw were shaped to perfection and eyes mostly lined with the blackest kohl eyeliner. Fun Fact: The Dora Milaje serve as the personal security force to the King and royal family. Each individual Dora actor had specialized skills that they brought to the table. They were cast from a pool of actresses, stunt women and Broadway dancers. There was plenty of tribal makeup looks done throughout on both the men and women. I think Zuri, (Played by Forrest Whitaker) had some of the most beautiful in the film. It was SOOOOOO refreshing to see Lupita Nyong’o rocking her short natural styles and the Dora Milaje sporting some seriously dope bald heads adorned with tribal tattoos. One of my favorite hair styles of the film is Lupita’s Bantu Knot style shown below. Another fav of mine was where she rocked a fabulous side parted twist out earlier in the film. Pics below. I especially love how you could see her fiery hair color all throughout, against the fabulous backdrops & scenery. I love the silver locks on Ramonda (Played by Angela Bassett), as a sign of age and wisdom, but this hairline had me a bit perplexed. I’m so picky when it comes to natural looking hair lines and this lace front wig on Angela Bassett almost had me, until I peeped those sideburns. The hair near the ears is a bit too much and the hairline is too precise. But overall, this style was ok. It played well into her regalness and respect as an elder in the tribe. I mean I know black don’t crack but look. at. this. Is that Fenty? Or does her skin just wake up flawless? Because it definitely ain’t Maybelline! The Beauty Of Black Panther | Naturally Stellar – Image Credit Courtesy Marvel Studios/Disney This had to be some extra special, sweat proof, battle-proof, semi-matte liquid skin, because the ladies oozed beautiful skin in every scene. So smooth, blemish free and check out that natural glow. I was loving it! The Beauty Of Black Panther | Naturally Stellar – Image Credit Courtesy Marvel Studios/Disney I know I’ve been focusing on the ladies but the guys in Black Panther were also depicted so beautifully. I’m still in awe over Killmonger’s body makeup and bumps. Fun Fact: Michael B. Jordan (Killmonger) spent almost 2 1/2 hours in the special effects chair getting his bumps individually added to his upper body. Each one is made of silicone and molded. After application, makeup is then applied and blended to match his skin tone.
