Tweet Share3 Pin7 Stumble10 Share1 +11Shares 22 So I know many of you spent last weekend prepping for and watching Superbowl LI. We watched the game but didn’t get up with our friends like we normally do, for the game this year. We just chilled, ate junk and talked more junk about the commercials lol. Then I got down on some wall space diy . I spent a lot of my weekend doing a few much-needed home decor projects, since I haven’t been able to get to them in the past 2 weeks, cause… #momlife and #toddler . Part of my Saturday was spent returning a coat rack plaque that I bought for my entry way, which came with ZERO hardware to install it. I think someone ripped the little screw pack off the back and I didn’t notice it until I got it home. So back to Target I went and ended up buying a totally different color, which made the space look even better. So in a way, I’m glad somebody stole my hardware off my coat rack 😀 My Saturday Evening Wall Space DIY Projects Project #1 – Coat Rack & Wall Art for Entry Way Wall Art & Wall Mounted Coat Rack Before this project, our entry way wall space was very boring and plain. They were bare and we really didn’t have anywhere to hang up our coats or keys. To fix those issues, I re-purposed some wall art that used to hang on my bedroom wall and moved it so that it’s the first thing you notice when you enter our apartment. I hang my pictures using simple picture hanger hooks like the one below. I love these because I never have to worry about crooked pictures as long as the frame is equipped with wire or sawtooth hangers on the back. Then, I positioned our new coat rack directly below it. Now all I need to do is find the perfect storage bench to go underneath so we can comfortably take off our shoes and store them away out of view, when we come inside. I’m on the hunt! This project took about 25 minutes to do. Our entry way is much more appealing and functional thanks to the new coat rack & picture. All that’s missing from this pic is a new shoe rack or bench…. I’m still looking for the right one. Project #2 – Frame an Award My hubby has been bugging me to get him a frame for his award, since the last frame he had ended up splitting. So after much hesitation, I decided to give him the frame from my old vision board. I didn’t want to part with it, but I couldn’t bare to look at his sad faces anymore. He’s brutal 🙂 The frame I gifted him already included a white mat board inside, so I just added a white padded poster board behind his award and lightly taped his award to it. I really love the white background because it makes his award pop now. This was a super simple project that took less than 10 minutes to do. There’s no way we could NOT display this award. Project #3 – Baby’s Room Collage Then I spent the rest of the night watching a little bit of “Men Of Honor” with Cuba Gooding Jr. and Robert DeNiro. I don’t know why me and hubby crack up every time Robert DeNiro called Cuba “Cookie” lol. But it really is a great movie and even more so relevant for Black History Month. If the language had been a little more PG-13, I would have loved to have my son watch it, but I guess I’m gonna have to settle on finding a summary to read him. Ok, so I didn’t get through the whole movie. I spent some more of the night searching for cool photos for a collage I’ve been wanting to put together for my daughter’s bedroom. Since we moved in her walls have been bare, so I wanted to add some things to it that would spark her interest like a cool collage and a wall shelf. I decided to re-purpose a lot of my wall decor from our last apartment to give our new place some freshness. So I took some wall art from our old bathroom and decided to swap out the blue images for some colorful ones that will go along with my baby’s color scheme for her room. Create your own color palette for your projects by using this free app from Coolors. Just type in Coolors.co in your browser, it’s really easy to use Here’s the original collage in blue. I cleaned it up and then got to work putting in the new pics. First, I lifted the tabs on the back, then removed the old pics. I replaced them with the new ones, taped them down on the corners so they don’t move around and put the back of the frame on and secured the tabs. This is the finished product. Now it’s time to hang it on the wall! This is the finished collage capturing my baby’s room colors and her personality. This took about an hour and a half to complete. The bulk of that time was spent searching for and printing out the photos for the collage. Project #4 – Baby’s Room Wall Shelf Re-purposed wall space diy. This used to be my old nail polish display shelf. This final project was pretty quick. I re-used my old nail polish wall shelf, cleaned it up and measured out where my picture hanger hooks needed to be on my daughter’s wall. Then I mounted the shelf and placed a few color coordinated items on top of it to go along with her room theme, including these cute chalk painted flower vases. The actual color is sage green and I made these out of an old oil jar and a mason jar, almost 2 years ago. I included a tutorial on how to make these Chalk Painted Decor Accents on the blog. What kinds of projects have you procrastinated on lately? Tweet Share3 Pin7 Stumble10 Share1 +11Shares 22The following two tabs change content below.BioLatest Posts Candice S. I love how simple you make hanging pictures and coat racks sound and I literally pull my hair out with that wire thingy lol you’ve inspired me to keep trying though to give my place more character like yours. Your baby’s walk was my fave! Reply cleverlychanging October 23, 2017 Very simple and stylish do it yourself ideas. I really liked the baby collage. Reply Sapphire Kharyzma October 20, 2017 I love these ideas. My walls are my canvas in my home. I usually decorate as the mood or seasons hit me 🙂 Reply Candice S. My favorite is the re-purposed nail polish shelf. I’ll have to give that a try. Reply Tiffany H. October 20, 2017 I love the shelf for the baby room, I also like that you have used it more then once for different things. I’m not a big DIY person but I did just do a project for Diner en Blanc and almost didnt make it to the bus because I waited until the day of. Reply Candice S. October 20, 2017 See, I’m not a big DIY’er either. That’s why I repurposed 😀 It is cool to repurpose stuff in my home instead of getting rid of it or storing it away. I’m working on painting a mirror I had for years. I’m gonna jazz it up for my room. Reply staciesayzso October 20, 2017 These are all really cute ideas. Reply Candice S. October 20, 2017 That’s sort of what I’m adding to my baby’s room. I found some cute door knobs I want to add to her wall so I can hang her diaper bag and coats. Reply Jo October 19, 2017 Girl you were putting in work! I don’t have a space for the entryway, but I really like the room collage idea. I need to redecorate my room. Reply Candice S. October 20, 2017 Not really LOL!! That one was pretty easy because the frame already came with the matte paper and sections in it. All I had to do was add some photos. Reply Lia World Traveler October 19, 2017 Great ideas and great post. I am always seeking ways to maximize space but in an artistic, functional, and decorative way. Thanks! Reply Hey Rock Star!
