So today I experienced one of the most exciting things to happen to those of us sick, shut in or working from home. Well, it pretty much works for everybody, but I’d like to think that they created the service just for me.  It’s not anything new, it’s been around for a little while now.  I just was waiting for the right opportunity to use the service. Today I had my first experience using Amazon’s Prime Now.  Oh and dude…it’s a game changer.

Amazon Prime Now Is Changing The Shopping Game | Naturally Stellar

Hubby was home sick today, so of course this meant an early morning request to get him some sicky supplies, like soup, cough medicine etc.  Well normally I would be all about that life and hop in the car to go get my baby what he needs, but I was feeling way too tired.  I stayed up until 3:30 am editing video footage so the 7:30 am request wasn’t looking too promising for him.   After walking my son to the bus and coming back inside to take off my coat, there was no way I was gonna head to the store to fight lines or people.  So, that’s when I remembered, “Oh yeah, I have a $10 off coupon for Prime Now!”.

So Easy To Order

I grabbed my phone and started to place an order.  (Side note: use code Save10Now to get $10 off your order. ) I memorized the coupon code and started typing in the products I wanted via the search bar.  Once my basket was full I hit checkout.  This all took me less than 5 minutes to do.

On the checkout screen it let’s you do things like adding a delivery window.  If you want your order within the hour it will cost you $7.99 but any delivery time that’s 2 hours or more is totally FREE.   You can also include a tip. Prime Now automagically includes the tip in your final balance, but you can adjust it as you please.  They don’t allow tips at the door upon delivery, so if you want to leave a tip you’ll have to do it during checkout.

After Ordering

Once your order is placed, you get a confirmation email. Then when your order is ready, you’ll get another email or text letting you know that it’s on the way.  Now all you have to do is wait.

You can also watch your order being delivered via Google Maps.  This is a really cool feature much like Uber. You can actually see the driver travel to your location.  But unlike Uber, they don’t get lost lol.  So dope!!

So this is what my delivery looked like today.  Sorry I couldn’t shoot pics of all the items. Hubby was HONGRY for some of his soup, and his Dasani water lol.  But basically this is what everything looks like when it arrives.   I know somebody is gonna ask so I’ll just throw this out there.  I’m not sure if you can ask for paper or plastic bags with your order.  Personally, I’d be willing to pay  a little extra for reusable bags.  I’ll have to ask Amazon about that.

Here’s an interesting article I read today about  Prime Now. »»»  7 Things You Probably Don’t Know About Amazon Prime Now .  One thing the author says that I have to disagree with, is his opinion on Amazon’s position in the grocery category.   Both Walmart and Kroger stores have a grocery delivery service now that offers WAY MORE brands, items and options than Amazon currently does.   If that doesn’t change on Amazon’s end, I’m not sure they’ll be able to take the #1 spot in the grocery category.  At least not in the U.S.  But Prime Now is still a killer service for groceries and does offer so much more in other categories than competitors.

I’m sure I’ll be using Prime Now quite often because it’s a lazy resourceful woman’s dream. 🙂

Yes, resourceful! lol One of my best friends has told me about how amazing this was. I really need to give it a try. My schedule is crazyyy during the week and I hate dealing with the weekend rush so this could alleviate some pressure and I would not eat out as much. Definitely going to research this more!!

We received a letter in the mail about it, but I totally over looked it. I’m not sure a subscription service is a budget priority in my life, but I will take a closer look.

I had no idea about this service and now I’m super excited to try it. My daughter was sick today and I waited until my husband got off of work to bring us medicine. Guess I could’ve just ordered through this service!

That’s exactly why I started using it. I work from home during the day without a car so rather than loading the baby’s cars eat into the back of an Uber, now I can just order what I need online.

I just found out this week they have 1 day delivery on a lot of Prime orders, so I ordered a carpet cleaner and sure enough, it came the next day. Prime Now is a totally separate site with 2 hours or more on select items (Grocery, Household etc.). Prime is 1 day or 2 day on select items throughout the whole Amazon.com

I haven’t tried this service from Amazon yet. I’m still an old fashioned run to the store type of gal.

Awww man! Well I can’t get the restaurant delivery in my area but I can get Prime Now. I wonder how they figure out who gets what? But I guess that’s a market research question for Amazon.

I keep sleeping on stuff like this!!! Heck Walmart even has a service where you can order your stuff then go through the “drive-thru” and have them load it up. Definitely a plus for sick/shut in or just lazy azz people…hahaha
