When budgets are super tight there’s nothing more daunting than trying to come up with things to do for spring break with the kids, that are fun, cheap and will distract them (at least a few days) from that expected dream trip to Cars Land or Disney.

Road Trippin Spring Break On A Tight Budget With Kids

Sometimes you gotta just throw on a Mickey Mouse shirt and look for something local to keep those rugrats busy and happy.  It may be a struggle to come up with an itinerary for everyone’s days off but at least you can use this tip to help you figure it out.  You have to remember that there are a few things in life that will always be true.  Kids like junk food, toys and opportunities to play.  Simple and plain.

Hey, it may not be the magic kingdom, but there are a lot of opportunities that could be right there where you live that can peak your children’s interest, without busting your pockets.

HERE’S WHAT WE DID ON SPRING BREAK

First of all, I didn’t have anything planned ahead of time.  I was almost fooled into thinking that there wasn’t anything I could do to make the week fun.   Besides money constraints, I was also dealing with a parent with a serious medical issue out-of-state and a hospitalization, so this year’s spring break ended up being a combination trip visit to family slash break for the kids.   Road trip!!  We headed off to Gadsden, Alabama.

FINALLY!!  I DITCHED THE KIDS AND PARENTS TO HAVE A QUIET DINNER WITH BAE

See kids don’t need much. They just need something to do that gets them out of the house and into a fresh environment where they can express themselves and burn off all of their energy.   Maybe we didn’t go big like some of my son’s friends families did this year and maybe it wasn’t the ideal spring break for everyone, but at least we got to see family and still managed to have a good time for less than what it would have cost us just to park our hooptie at Disney for a few days.
