Tweet Share Pin Stumble Share +1Shares 0 So here it is! The recap of the America’s Greatest Grilling Guru event I attended earlier this month. As you may remember from my previous post, the event was sponsored by Macy’s and held in Nashville (Franklin) at the Cool Springs Galleria. Six grilling masters battled it out to become the Grilling Guru of the year. It was a super hot and sunny day, but Macy’s kept the crowd cool with paper fans, ice-cold bottles of water and refreshing drinks being served at our seats. If you got there early you were arm-banded to receive a free selfie stick and most attendees also received a Macy’s culinary council recipe booklet. There were lots of local vendors surrounding the competition tent, offering free samples of a variety of yummy treats like personal pizzas from Pie 5, cake samples from – Nothing Bundt Cake, frozen fruit pops from Las Paletas, cold smoothies, cold pressed juice from Juice Nashville and baggies of candy. At some points, it was standing room only as the event got underway. There were giveaways to keep the crowd occupied and musical performances by a local band. While the contestants grilled away, the audience was also treated to delicious and ample samples of chef inspired dishes. I wish I could show you more pics of the fantastic food the audience got to sample, but I was so busy stuffing my face, I only snapped this pic of my delicious cake sample from Nothing Bundt Cake. We also got to try Grilled Caesar Salad, Bratwurst, Prawns, Fried Chicken Sandwiches and Fried Pies. More Event Pics Contestants getting ready Contestants Grilling Away! Areka was so sweet to me that day. Here I was hot, pregnant and hungry. She was so kind and kept bringing me samples to try while I found a spot to sit down in the shade inside the event tent. The Winner Is Announced Eric of Overland Park, KS took home the win with his Brazilian Chicken Lollipops & Spicy Caipirinha Rum Glaze. He received a check for $10, 000 and a trip to the 2016 Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks in NYC. I had a great time. It was hot, but it was a great time for foodies of all kinds to get out and have some fun tasting great food and witnessing people pursue their passions for creating delicious food. Congrats to all the finalists! Well my foodie followers, enjoy your summer grilling. Get out there and make the most of the warm temps while they last.
