On a recent trip to Nashville, I decided to stop by the Opryland Mall for some last minute shopping before heading back home.  As I was walking along I caught the eye of a sales lady at a little kiosk in the middle of one of the corridor. She stopped me and asked if I’d be interested in trying out a new body scrub by Gratiae Organics

* The products in this review were purchased by me for my personal use.  I am not in any way affiliated with Gratiae Organics and have not received any products, $$ or endorsements in exchange for this review.  I’m simply a very opinionated consumer 😀

I had never heard of the brand before, but the smells coming from the open jars really won me over, so I decided to humor her for a little bit.

Now let me explain to you that normally, I don’t buy things from mall kiosks and I really ought to be ashamed at how harsh I feel about these small enterprise islands.  To me, these are the ones who couldn’t make it to a “real storefront” behind the glass.  The mall rejects. It’s like every time you pass one somebody’s trying to spray something on you or demonstrate how some new thing works, that you know you don’t need.  I know…I’m so wrong, but I’m just being honest.  I don’t buy from them. In fact most times I act like I don’t even see the desperate sales people. I try hard not to make eye contact. I just keep it moving.

Well my little vacation was great. I had such a great trip that I must have decided to put my opinions aside on that day.  I really must have, because at the end of it all, I left the mall with Gratiae Organic’s Nail Beautifying Kit & a jar of their Green Apple Body Scrub.  I feel like I got a pretty good deal on it all too. Especially after researching the retail costs, which I did, after I got home btw.  It only cost me $65 for a full sized scrub & the kit. According to their website, it would have cost me close to $100, if I bought them online.

Gratiae Hand & Nail Beautifying Kit Review | Naturally Stellar

So the Nail Beautifying Kit comes with Cuticle Oil, A Nail File, The Hand & Nail Care Treatment Cream & a  4-way Buffing Block.

My Observations

The cuticle oil is kept very simple with sweet almond, grape seed, wheat germ, jojoba & vitamin E oils.  The hand cream has aloe vera, witch hazel, vitamin E, sweet almond oil, jojoba & oat kernal extract.

The fragrance is very pleasant & light. I opted for the Passion fruit & Lime, so mine has a really sweet, berry/citrussy kind of smell.  I love going to bed with that fragrance on. My hubby’s not mad at it either!

I will say that I’m disappointed with the inclusion of the nail file though. It has a heavy grit to it on both sides, which I feel can be detrimental to natural nail care. I personally feel that heavy grit files & emery boards help to cause nail splitting, because most people either don’t know how to file their nails correctly or the friction is too harsh on their nails, both can potentially cause damage. I experienced splits in the past from filing so I  do it sparingly, unless I break a nail and need to do a reshape. Even then, I try to use the lowest grit possible.

Pros:

  • Certified Organic Ingredients
  • Cuticle oil – a little goes a long way so the tube will last you for quite a while.
  • Great light scent

Cons:

  • Nail file left little to be desired
  • Retail price is a little high, but if you can catch a sale it’s so worth it!

Final Thoughts

I have been using this nail kit for about 2 months now and I have to say that I am now a believer.  Not of mall kiosks, but of these products. My hands & nails have been transformed. I went from having rough hands & no nails at all, to a full set of strong, beautiful nails (see my Moody Manicures as proof). My hands stay looking great as long as I keep up with my regimen of using the cuticle oil & hand cream each night.

One of the great things about this kit that helped win me over was the fact that it contains a lot of certified organic ingredients, which I am a HUGE proponent of.  Besides the fact that I have very sensitive skin, I try to stay aware of the ingredients of my beauty products & what I’m putting on my body.  I still have a big weakness for nail polishes, but I am a stickler when it comes to all of my other products.

Grade

For the wonders that these products have done for my nails minus how I feel about the nail file,  I’m giving the Gratiae Nail Beautifying Kit a B+
